Summary for Seeker in the Shadows

Written by Penny Barber

After having been raised by the idealistic Green Wizard, twenty-year-old warrior Kem embarks on his life’s mission of defeating the legendary Mara, Queen of Shadows. He happens upon a subterranean cave where a trio of sexy, psychedelic fairies offer him armor, a magical sword, and their sultry bodies. A new man, Kem sets off into the monster-infested forest that divides the Green Wizard’s mesa-studded domain from Queen Mara’s sinister, mountaintop castle.

Kem’s itinerant adventures include meeting Silea, a beautiful, no-nonsense paladin who teaches him a few sword tricks before taking his cock; a near-deadly sexual encounter with a hypnotic vampiress; a harrowing passage through a booby-trapped dungeon; an intoxicated orgy in the Queen’s vineyard; and narrowly escaping being sacrificed to a Giantess who is both a literal and metaphorical man-eater. Finally, after being led astray by a conniving damsel, Kem finds himself face-to-face with the dragon, a miserly old lizard who hordes both gold and women. Lucky for Kem, he’s picked up a special treasure on his journey, one originally stolen from the dragon by Queen Mara herself. In exchange for the bauble, Kem barters a ride to Mara’s doorstep as well as a tumble with the dragon’s slave girls.

Arrived at his destination, Kem is disheartened to find that, magic sword or no, Queen Mara is not so easily defeated. Instead, Kem is completely at her mercy. First, he is subjugated in the royal dungeon by the sadistic Madame Executioner. Then he is forced to fight Mara’s personal bodyguard and sexual plaything, known only as Darling. A demon summoned by Mara twenty years ago, Darling will do anything for his queen, including laying down his life in a staged battle designed to initiate Kem as the Queen’s new champion.

Cresting on this spurious victory, Kem and Mara fornicate on the long, dining room table and she reveals that she is his mother. Instead of being horrified, Kem proves that he is indeed Mara’s son and heir and climaxes inside of her. Kem makes it clear that he will never again be bound by the expectations or scruples of men: he will live his fantasy of eternal conquest, sexual and otherwise, while Mara provides him with her vast resources. Come-drunk and overwhelmed, Mara acquiesces and, lo, Kem has fulfilled his destiny and conquered the evil Queen Mara.
